I’m so fortunate to work with a brand like The Body Shop, that is continuously investing in not only new product development, but new initiatives too.

In this blog I’m going to explore my three favourite The Body Shop new product launches of 2022, and share what it is that I love about them…

I confess, it was so hard to choose just three… So pour a brew, pop your feet up and enjoy, as I take you on a journey through my favourite new products….

Top of the pops has to be the Breathe Massage Melt, from The Body Shop’s Wellness Range.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve suffered with restless legs. Those readers who know me personally will know that I love to be active and, on days when I’d really exerted myself, that night my legs would be as excited as a box of frogs. Throw in the occasional yelp when my muscles cramped and you can imagine that Mr Smith was not very happy about his lack of sleep (being self-inflicted, my own lack of sleep wasn’t something I could complain about).

The Body Shop’s Breathe Massage Melt

I’m a true believer that prevention is better than cure and, after some research, I discovered that magnesium could help alleviate restless legs, so I started to take a supplement. Whilst this helped, I’d still be affected by restless legs and cramp at times.

Enter Breathe Massage Melt. That this product features in my top three will be of no surprise to those who follow my journey with The Body Shop closely. Of course, this isn’t a medical product and can’t be recommended as such, but speaking from my own experience, this product greatly helped. I generally apply after exerting myself and it’s an amazing help. Over the course of the summer, I’ve done a few long-distance hilly off-road runs, which would usually have me jumping like a Jack in the Box during the night, but… nothing. Nada. I slept like a baby (as an aside – where does this phrase come from? I’ve had three babies and can categorically state that they do not sleep. Well, not when we’d want them to anyway).

Back to the topic in hand… it goes on like a gel and melts to an oil, and not only is it lovely to massage in, but it smells amazing too. Produced with rosemary and eucalyptus, it has a lovely uplifting fragrance, that clears the senses. It’s also very calming, so great to use in stressful times by applying generally.

It’s not just me who loves this product. Kathy Winters, one of my loyal customers who also loves this product, says “I love the Breathe Massage Melt for calming down my restless legs. I apply nightly to my lower legs and I can feel a difference in the overall condition of my skin, too.”

Next up we have the Ginger Hair and Scalp Scrub. Oh, how I did a happy dance when I heard that this was coming! With my sensitive scalp I need to be super careful what I use, if I want to avoid a couple of weeks of itchy, flaky scalp afterwards. Having been a fan of the ginger range since I started my The Body Shop at Home journey, the introduction of this product to the range made my heart sing, as I’ve been unable to use previous hair and scalp scrubs, but always loved the idea of them.

The scrub particles are produced from crushed walnut and coconut shells. And the ginger is Community Fair Trade ginger from Madagascar, so using this range helps to support communities there too. It’s win-win.

I use this weekly after I’ve been swimming, to help remove build up from my hair and exfoliate and soothe my scalp. You won’t hear me enthusing about the fragrance during use (I’m not a huge ‘actual’ ginger fan), but the product really helps, and that will do for me!

And now for the final pick of the bunch in my top 3 new products of 2022… and it’s a really new one.

It would be safe to say that the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Curl Activator has revolutionised how my curls behave! The fragrance is a bit ‘Marmite®’ but it’s right up my street. I’d describe it as earthy, warm and comforting.

I apply this after washing and combing through my hair with an afro comb. I’ll then pop a tiny bit through my hair and wrap in a bamboo hair wrap (The Body Shop, of course) for 10 minutes or more. If I need to finish off with the hairdryer, that works too (I’ve always opted for straight hair in the winter as my hair has yet to find its hairdryer BFF).

Fast forward to the next day and I remove my bobble when I get up, give my head a shake and…. voilà! I’m either good to go, or may just need to apply a tiny bit of product to define my curls.

Fast forward to the day after that and, where I’d usually be reaching for the hair straighteners because my curls are beyond repair, I tend to find I can simply repeat the shake and go actions of the day before.

At just shy of 50 years’ old, I’m just learning to love my curls!

So that’s it, three new products that have shaped my 2022. If you’ve yet to experience any of these, and would like to try them, please let me know and I can arrange some samples, or you can purchase here.
