It all started with a coconut body butter…
I joined The Body Shop at Home™ in August 2014, when I saw an opportunity to share my love of the coconut range with people I know. Back then, I had no idea where that decision would take me.
The Body Shop at Home™ enabled me to indulge my love of travel, paying for holidays abroad with my husband, and gaining me the nickname of Judith Chalmers within the team. When I experienced difficult times on a personal level, I kept going with my parties, and growing my business and it gave me a nice sense of release from the stresses of everyday life.
When I joined The Body Shop at Home™ I had a hectic job which involved working long hours, a lot of travelling and not much in the way of a work-life balance. In 2018 when I received the news that I was to be made redundant, rather than feeling flummoxed, I felt lifted and knew that this was my opportunity to grow my business further and work full time with The Body Shop at Home™, rather than looking for another job.
I’ll always be thankful for the opportunity to work flexibly as it’s meant that I can spend time with my Mum when she’s been visiting from her home in France, and also that I can spend time with her in France too, whilst still growing my business.
My passion is for parties and events, so the pandemic meant I had to learn quickly to do things differently. I’m always up for a challenge! It’s been great to see the team grow further over the past 12 months, and I love the team spirit and online catch ups that we have on a regular basis.
Stepping away from the corporate world has also meant that I can take more time to focus on what I love about The Body Shop®, which has to be their Community Fair Trade programme. I love that through doing what I do, I can educate others on the positive impact that their purchases have on communities worldwide and that, through my and my team’s sales, we can generate higher demand for these ingredients.
If I were to sum up The Body Shop at Home™ in a single phrase it would be “A coconut body butter has given me more than I ever thought it could!”
